The task of finding a kid-friendly dessert for an event we attended was up to me. Since those candy-bar-type desserts are always a bit hit with others, I went a searchin' for a new one and I found it (thanks to Recipezaar).... Butterfinger Brownies!
Ok, so they're not really technically a "brownie." They're more like a blondie with lots of butterfinger chunks mixed in.
These were a HUGE hit at our event. The teenagers scarfed them down like crazy and were scampering after me asking where to find the recipe. By the time my husband reached the desserts, only crumbs were left on the butterfinger brownie platter. I had a bite of the scraps when I was cutting them into neat little squares, and found them to be mighty good scraps (and I'm not even much of a butterfinger fan.)
These 'brownies' are a definite repeater (but next time, I'll hide them from the teenagers!) Are there any more candy bar baked goods out there that I must try? I'll tuck them away for the next big event. This recipe can be found HERE. And if this recipe sounds good, you might also enjoy Butterfinger- Chunk Cookies.
Ok, now I could just cry. We don't have butterfingers here! :( WAAAAHH! Your brownies look incredibly delicious. I can't even stand it. :)
ReplyDeleteOh,,,I have visions of Bart Simpson and I hoarding all of these in one sitting!
ReplyDeletegorgeous photos..makes me feel like im in heaven!! yummy!!
ReplyDeletemy saliva glands are working overtime right now. i always associate butterfingers with bart simpson for some reason (was there a commericial with him in it?), and i love 'em. no, recipegirl, a simple tissue shall not be enough to control my drool for these puppies... :)
ReplyDeletePure evil, those are!
ReplyDeleteYes, Grace, Bart used to do Butterfinger commercials. (omg, i say that like he's a real person, hahaha!)
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for Butterfingers. Put them in blondies and I'm in! Thanks for this recipe!
You always have such incredible sweets here!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visits everyone :)
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm not gettin' the Bart Simpson reference. I guess I'm definitely not a Simpson's fan!! Was there a commercial w/ Butterfinger's and Bart at some point??
Oh that's perfect! I'm not a Butterfinger fan myself (too sweet), but my brother, who is like a kid taste-wise (you know, meat, no veggies), loves them. But we end up accummulating a lot of Butterfingers here and I don't know what to do with them O_o
ReplyDeleteI'm a Simpsons fan-- indeed, Bart Simpson was the "spokesperson" for Butterfinger in the '90s. They even had special edition comic books sponsored by Butterfinger. Soon Bart would parody this association on the show long after the sponsorship dissolved. Okay, I'm too much of a Simpsons fan, apparently.
Those sound and look so yummy. I love butterfingers. Your photos are so nice!
ReplyDeletewow... those look like they'd be perfect to feed to my co-workers. I need to bookmark this recipe :)
ReplyDeleteThese looks absolutely gorgeous! I'm bookmarking the recipe to make it someday! hopefully soon.
ReplyDeleteThese look fabulous! I love any kind of brownie or blondie -- but adding Butterfinger to it just makes it even more fantastic! I have to try this one...
ReplyDeleteThis recipe (and every other one you linked to in the beginning) looks like it will be the end of me. Yum!
ReplyDeleteNow there's a blondie equivalent to a brownie in crave factor!
ReplyDeleteLori, I think you and Jenny (and her Whopper cookies) are determined to kill me. These are sooooo awesome and I LOVE Butterfingers, and I'm probably gonna die from sugar overload. My kids won't even care, cause then they'll have the leftovers!
ReplyDeleteWonderful recipe!
These look brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI have a cookie recipe waiting to be uploaded using a chocolate bar. :-)
These look good! I've made Butterfinger cookies before but the base was chocolatey, not a blond one.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite recipes using candy is Rolo Cookies. YUM! Here's a link with the recipe: http://www.flickr.com/photos/photojunkie/57077961/

ReplyDeleteI am a butterfinger fan, so I'm sure I could eat a pan of these myself!
ReplyDeleteI made these over the weekend, in two 8x8 pans-one was to give away. I drizzled chocolate over one pan and darn it all if these were not just amazingly delicious. My kids quickly ate them up. Great blondie flavor AND you can totally taste the Butterfingers.
ReplyDeleteOh my...this is a winner! What a great brownie!
ReplyDeleteWow...that is intense. I feel my thighs growing just reading about them.
ReplyDeleteI starred this on my google reader and finally got around to making then and they are now a favorite request of EVERYONE that has tried them!! I have probably made them 5 times in the past few weeks!! Thanks for such a great suggestion!
ReplyDeleteI just found this recipe on your recipe blog and I am so making these before the end of the week. I was the lucky recipient of Butterfingers sent to me by my dear friend in the US, so I will be using them to make these delicious brownies!
